Counting down the days until the unofficial ending of summer, but a new beginning is here as the first of two podcasts this week have arrived. On deck:

(6:23) Both World Series representatives (Yankees, Dodgers) from last year avoid sweeps, the Phillies lose their ace (Zack Wheeler) for the remainder of the year. Will there be any drama over the course of the final five weeks of 2025? Plus, all of the latest that MLB has to offer as we approach the final month of the season.

(34:11) NFL now has its sights set on the regular season. First up, tomorrow’s rosters need to be set. There’s been some player movement already as I’ll update on what’s gone on. Also, college football is here as we get set to open up the new season this coming weekend, despite it officially beginning last weekend.

(40:50) The US Open has already begun at Flushing Meadows, with a surprising upset right out of the gate. I’ll preview what could take place over the next two weeks as the last major of 2025 is here.

(52:46) Napheesa Collier is back for the Minnesota Lynx as they’re looking as the team to beat in the WNBA.

(54:48) A key member of the Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers will miss the start of the season as NHL training camps commence in a few weeks.

(56:49) Lastly, some news in golf as Tommy Fleetwood is your FedEx Champion. Is it a big deal?

Keeping you informed on all that going on in sports is the game, and if you don’t know by now, you’ll be reminded who’s delivering it by name as yours truly is here with the latest podcast. On deck:

(6:40) Are the Mariners and Brewers on a collision course for late October? It’s way too early to tell, but they’re playing the best baseball at the moment. Or is it possible that they’re peaking too soon? The state of baseball in New York seems to be going from bad to worse with the Yankees and Mets. Plus, the news, notes and playoff races up to the minute.

(41:34) Browns rookie QB Shedeur Sanders made a big first impression with two touchdowns in his debut vs. the Panthers. Is this noteworthy or much ado about nothing? Also, some key injuries to report regarding top offensive lineman. And Cam Heyward wants a raise now?

(51:17) The NBA schedule has been released. It sure looks like the West has won regarding air time on a couple of key nights.

(56:33) The Minnesota Lynx have bigger heights to reach as they take care of their Finals opponent from last year in the Liberty on the road. Is a championship a foregone conclusion at this point?

(1:02:59) Panthers forward Matthew Tkackuk is considering surgery which will sideline him for two to three months. Why is it taking him so long to decide as training camp is a month away?

Closing out the first week of August with a surprisingly packed podcast with enough sports chatter to pique your interest as the latest episode is forthcoming. On deck:

(6:30) The team with the best record in MLB is not who you think. History tells us that October hasn’t been nice to them over the past seven years. Could this year turn out different for the Milwaukee Brewers? The Yankees avoid another sweep and get out of Texas with a wild card spot in tact. As for Devin Williams pitching in late game pressure situations? The Mets are in a tailspin, losing 8 of 9 after a seven game winning streak. Will their fortunes change as they go to play the Brewers over the weekend? And all of the latest playoff races in baseball to date.

(39:10) NFL preseason opens a full slate a games this week while the league’s TV network gets sold to the Worldwide Leader in Sports. Is that a good thing? Plus, the league wants nothing to do with issuing smelling salt to players, during practices or games, but players can purchase them on their own. Could there be long term effects and repercussions because of it? I’ll check in on whatever else is happening throughout training camp as of late.

(50:06) Who is the preseason #1 in college football as the season is a little more than three weeks away?

(52:47) March Madness will not expand in 2026, but the possibility of having 72 or 76 teams in the tournament in 2027 could happen. Why having more doesn’t mean better if this were to become official?

(55:38) The first of three matchups in nine days commences on Sunday between the WNBA Finalists of last year (Lynx & Liberty) Will this be a showcase as to who is the better team in a possible championship rematch in late September?

And MUCH MORE in between.

The last few days of July are upon us and so is the latest podcast detailing all of what the sports world has on its plate. On deck:

(6:29) I have a couple of housekeeping notes as I’ll share the latest commentary video on my YouTube channel for your viewing pleasure. (Link below) And if you’re wondering who that guy is on the video (if you’re watching on Spotify or on YouTube) I’ll explain at the end of the podcast.

(8:59) It was another wild weekend in baseball as the Astros headline the past few days, getting swept at home by the lowly Athletics. In the process, A’s rookie Nick Kurtz did the unthinkable on Friday night with an epic offensive display. With the trade deadline on Thursday, I’ll review the small deals that have taken place to date. Will any big time deals land from the time of this recording?

(33:34) NFL training camps are in full swing, which means Cowboys owner Jerry Jones sticks his foot in his mouth, yet again.

(38:13) Bulls coach Billy Donovan gets an extension to stay in Chicago. Bill Self gets an extension of his life after having two stents put in his heart.

(40:01) The NY Liberty may lose one of their best players for some time as Breanna Stewart suffered a leg injury in a loss on Saturday night.

(43:21) A re-signing in Carolina as the Hurricanes hand out a big payday to one of their young players.

(44:43) Remembering Hulk Hogan as he passed away last week at the age of 71. I’ll share my thoughts on his early career during a time when he went from wrestling star to legend.

Approaching the final week of July the only way I know how, despite some crickets being heard in some of the sports that are out there, but whatever I’ve got, you know I’ll bring the pain and then some as the latest podcast is here. On deck:

(6:21) Baseball’s first week out of the break has been intriguing. The Tigers have been slumping. The Guardians have been surging. The Yankees have been sloppy. There are two new division leaders and the MLB trade deadline is a week away with no activity to speak of.

(34:50) NFL training camps are open throughout the league as the football fans in 32 cities get pumped up for the regular season just six weeks away. I’ll deliver what the top storylines and objectives are for every team in swift fashion as America’s most popular sport is back in our consciousness.

With the 4th of July in our rearview mirror, it’s time to look ahead to see what the sports landscape has in store for us over the next hour or so as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

(6:30) The Yankees avoid a Subway Series sweep and a seven game losing streak as they salvage the final game at Citi Field. But the Bombers face another challenge to their starting rotation moving forward. Can the Mets close out the last week before the All Star Break against underachieving AL teams on the road? The Astros go into Dodger Stadium and sweep the defending champs. Plus, a housecleaning in DC and our first peek at the Wild Card standings throughout baseball.

(33:35) Are we preparing ourselves for another Carlos Alcaraz-Jannik Sinner final at Wimbledon? And is this Aryna Sabalenka’s tournament to lose on the women’s side?

(42:34) All is quiet on the NBA front as summer league is underway.

(46:06) The Carolina Hurricanes make a huge splash signing former Winnipeg Jet Nikolaj Ehlers. Does this move make them a threat to the Florida Panthers in the East? There are a few other signings to discuss and the sad passing of a former Boston Bruin tough guy, dating back to the 1980’s.

(55:03) After explaining some recent (and successful) content that I’ve recently put up regarding the Pittsburgh Steelers, don’t look now, but NFL Training Camps will open up a lot sooner than you think. Is this something yours truly is looking forward to?

On the eve of another summer holiday, they’ll be lots of fireworks over the next hour as there’s plenty to go around throughout the sports landscape as the latest podcast is here. On deck:

(7:02) This recent Yankees free fall has found them in a tie for first place with the Blue Jays looking to take over the division with a potential sweep tonight. What’s gone wrong with The Bronx Bombers? I’ll preview another Subway Series on the horizon as both teams seek to get out of a midseason malaise.

(25:05) NBA’s free agency period is off and running. Led by the release of Damian Lillard in Milwaukee, then signing long time Pacers forward Myles Turner. I’ll detailed all that’s transpired and also share my thoughts on the new head coach of the Knicks, Mike Brown. Was he the right guy to hire? I make a brief mention about the Indiana Fever winning the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup without Caitlin Clark!

(43:51) The Florida Panthers are zeroing in on a rare three-peat in the NHL after re-signing three key players to their team. Plus, all of the other activity that’s taken place to date.

(49:34) Wimbledon has been a whirlwind with many top players upset, most notably, #2 Coco Gauff who didn’t make it out of the first round after winning the French Open last month. Then you had #3 men’s player Alexander Zverev lose a classic match, but the more important story is his mental health. How his eye opening post-match interview resonated with top women’s player, Aryna Sabalenka, in trying to seek help as he battles whatever he has going on off the court.

(1:01:32) Are the Steelers a threat in the AFC after a shocking trade that delivered both Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith from Miami?

There’s plenty of sizzle out there as summer is coming in like a lion (depending on where you live, of course) but the heat will continue to rise as I’ve got a few things on my mind when it comes to what’s happening in sports as the latest podcast is here. On deck:

(6:45) The Mavericks finally get their man as Cooper Flagg is the first pick in the NBA Draft, plus other notables from Round 1. The Celtics retool their roster with Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis dealt to get under the second apron. Are low cut sneakers the cause for rash of Achilles injuries? Does the draft need a second night of TV coverage?

(32:23) Finally, the Mets beat their divisional rival Atlanta Braves. There’s some intrigue for the top spot in the NL Central and AL East. Why are fans out of control recently after incidents involving a couple of players, in particular Diamondbacks Ketel Marte?

(46:35) The NY Islanders are on the clock as the NHL Draft commences tomorrow night. The latest class of hockey Hall of Famers have been announced. Are they shoo-ins for enshrinement? And will there be a new, expanded schedule for the 2026-27 season?

On the eve of summer and today being Juneteenth, a change is on the horizon as the sports landscape is about to look a little different in the coming days. I’ll explain in detail as the latest podcast is here. On deck:

(6:34) With the hockey season already completed, the NBA has the stage to close out its Finals tonight as Oklahoma City looks to capture their first championship, while Indiana hopes to force a Game 7 with or without Tyrese Haliburton. How will Game 6 unfold? The Lakers are being sold for $10 billion dollars. LeBron James doesn’t understand ‘ring culture’ in the sport as he addressed it on his podcast. Do we need to remind him that he was a big part of that?

(24:31) The Florida Panthers repeat as Stanley Cup Champions with another dominant effort in Game 6 over the Edmonton Oilers. Is this team already considered a dynasty? Where do we go from here regarding Connor McDavid and the Oilers, losing a second straight Cup Finals?

(42:57) Baseball is on the verge of becoming the only major sport left. What’s going on with the New York teams as both the Yankees and Mets are mired in long losing streaks? The latter, is about to embark on a weekend road trip to Philadelphia for first place in the NL East. Are the Dodgers about to take off in the NL West after taking the first three games vs. the Padres and a chance for a four game sweep today?

(1:02:50) Don’t look now, but NFL Training Camps are about five weeks away! UGH! Also, Jaire Alexander finds a home in Baltimore, CJ Mosley retires and do I really have to unpack what Shedeur Sanders recently did off the field?

Counting down to the official beginning of another season, the best season of the year…yes, that is summer. But coming at ya faster than that is the latest episode with a TON of stuff to uncover in the sports world. On deck:

(6:42) OKC showed what they were made of in Game 4 as SGA’s big fourth quarter ties the series at two. How will Game 5 and the rest of the Finals play out starting tonight? There was a huge trade in the Association as the Magic go all in on former Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane. Is he worth two players and four unprotected first round picks? Also, the Knicks head coaching search continues and where does Kevin Durant end up?

(27:17) The Florida Panthers are one win away from going back to back against the Edmonton Oilers. Not even a crushing Game 4 defeat will slow down the defending champs as they dominated Game 5 on the road. Will this series go back to Western Canada in Game 7? Or will the Panthers wrap up another championship?

(40:44) The saga between the Red Sox and Rafael Devers came to an abrupt end with the disgruntled DH getting shipped to San Francisco for two pitchers and prospects. Was this a good move by Boston? Does this make the Giants contenders in the NL? Plus, it was a lost weekend for the New York teams as they were both surprisingly swept. And Shohei Ohtani will make his Dodgers pitching debut vs. San Diego. What should we expect?

(57:35) After what was a US Open to forget, one player came up from the rubble to win the tournament. His name is JJ Spaun. I’ll recap what turned out to be a slog and a wet one at that as the third golf major of the year is already in the books.

Summer is just eight days away as the season will officially arrive next Friday, but not before the arrival of the latest and greatest of what’s happening in the sports world. On deck:

(6:37) The Indiana Pacers are two wins away from capturing their first NBA title. Does destiny await? Are the Thunder going to strike? Or go out in a whimper? And has the Knicks head coaching search become a flat out disaster?

(29:08) The Edmonton Oilers look to rebound from an embarrassing Game 3 loss to the Panthers. Will they do so?

It’s going to be a loaded hour and change, with so much happening in sports, that you won’t know what hit ya. So get ready, set and let’s go as THISSSSSSSS…as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

(6:53) Carlos Alcaraz rallies from a two set deficit to win the French Open in a classic vs. Jannik Sinner at the French Open. Is he on his way to immortality? How does Sinner deal with crushing defeat? Coco Gauff wins her first French as she surprises Aryna Sabalenka.

(31:11) OKC rebounds from a terrible Game 1 loss to even the NBA Finals at one. Will they earn a split in Indiana? Also, the Knicks are seeking permission to speak to Mavericks coach Jason Kidd. Why?

(46:18) Florida escapes Edmonton with a double OT win, thanks to Brad Marchand, as the series shifts to South Florida tonight. Will the Oilers find a way to get one of the next two? Plus, a coaching hire in Boston and one fired in Dallas.

(56:43) The Phillies are slowly slipping away from the Mets in the NL East, mired in a five game losing streak after getting swept by the Pirates. Are the Braves not going to fire this year as they’re ten games under .500. The Yankees lose two of three to the Red Sox as their pitching staff took a beating.

(1:09:57) Aaron Rodgers is officially a Pittsburgh Steeler. I guess I have to share my thoughts on whether this is a good or bad thing?

(1:18:15) The Belmont Stakes didn’t disappoint as Sovereignty wins over favorite Journalism, which begs the question, was this horse a Triple Crown threat?

There’ll be no June swoon as we introduce the newest month and get you set for a couple of Finals, baseball, tennis and whatever else the sports world has cooking as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

(7:15) It’s Florida-Edmonton Round 2 as the Stanley Cup Finals commences on Wednesday. Will the Oilers get their revenge? I’ll go through the storylines and predict who’ll raise the Cup when it’s all said and done. I’ll also touch on another disappointing finish in the conference finals for the Dallas Stars.

(32:43) The Pacers reach the Finals for the second time in team history. And farewell to a surprising Knicks playoff run. Can they take the next step a year from now?

(45:58) The Yankees avoided getting swept in LA to close out a long trip. Up next? The other NY team as the Mets will invade Chavez Ravine for four games. Plus, what else is going on throughout baseball.

(1:04:15) The French Open commences week two with a lot of intrigue, despite there not being any major upsets over the past three days. What could we expect this week?

We’re precisely a week away from the unofficial beginning of summer. Can you believe it? But we’re seconds away from the best sports podcast that covers EVERYTHING, that’s right, I said it. Why? Because name me another pod out there that doesn’t stick to just one sport. I’m waiting….still waiting…as the latest podcast has arrived! On deck:

(7:08) OKC won a Game 7 that they had to have as they advance to play the Timberwolves. While the Knicks romp in closing out the Celtics in Game 6 (I think their fans are still celebrating it) I’ll preview T’wolves-Thunder & Pacers-Knicks as the West will tip off tomorrow night. I’ll also share my thoughts on the WNBA season commencing on Saturday. There’s already a Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese controversy to discuss?

(37:34) The Maple Leafs collapsed yet again, losing to the Panthers in Game 7. Should the organization blow up the team? Add Winnipeg to the list of teams that won the President’s Trophy without capturing a title as they lose in six to Dallas. And the Capitals fall way short of the Cup Finals after losing to the Hurricanes in five. I’ll preview Panthers-Hurricanes & Oilers-Stars and what Final would be the most attractive?

(54:59) Juan Soto’s return to The Bronx was forgetful as the Mets lose two out of three to the Yankees. The shocking Twins 13 game winning streak, which was snapped yesterday in Milwaukee. How about the Angels sweeping the Dodgers in LA? I’ll see what else is happening throughout the sport as Memorial Day looms next week.

(1:10:10) 49ers QB Brock Purdy signs a five year, $265 million dollar deal to stay in San Francisco. Is he worth it?

(1:15:27) Scottie Scheffler finally wins a major out of Augusta as he wins the PGA Championship yesterday. What about Jordan Spieth? Rory McIlroy?

And MUCH more in between.

The sports universe intensifies as we’ve hit the middle of May. I’m here to break it all down for you as the latest podcast is here. On deck:

(6:45) The NBA’s second round is coming to a close as two series are undecided. Will the Celtics pull off the unthinkable, coming back from a 3-1 deficit without their best player? Can the Nuggets do the same to OKC? Indiana & Minnesota have advanced, leaving the Cavaliers & Warriors with plenty to answer this offseason. Also, the Dallas Mavericks have miraculously won the NBA Draft Lottery.

(40:49) Which team is facing the most pressure? Is it Washington, Winnipeg or Toronto? While Edmonton has moved on to another conference finals. Plus, some coaching hires in Vancouver and Philadelphia.

(56:46) Pete Rose has been reinstated by MLB to be eligible for the Hall of Fame, but does it come with a caveat? Juan Soto will pay his first visit to Yankee Stadium since signing with the Mets this past winter. Will the reception be welcoming?

(1:13:37) The NFL schedule has been released and I already exhausted looking at it.

(1:23:47) Will Jordan Spieth match what Rory McIlory did at The Masters and complete the career Grand Slam at the PGA this weekend?

And MUCH more in between.

Plowing through the week with another dose of sports talk as this episode may melt your earbuds, headphones or speakers. So fasten your seatbelts because this’ll be a wild ride as the latest podcast is here. On deck:

(6:40) The road teams have dominated the NBA second round winning six of seven games to date. What has happened to the Cavaliers & Celtics? (A group therapy session for the defending champs as I have LOTS to say about this team!)

(40:19) The same could be said in the NHL as the three visiting teams have a leg up (Carolina, Dallas & Edmonton) in Round 2, while the Maple Leafs have taken care of business at home with a 2-0 lead on Florida.

(49:59) Is the AL Central the best division in baseball, this side of the NL West to date?

(59:07) A trade involving the Steelers & Cowboys as WR George Pickens goes to Dallas. Was this a good move by Pittsburgh? Or big mistake?

(1:04:27) Horse racing will not be discussed over the next three and a half weeks as Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty has pulled out of The Preakness, spoiling an opportunity for a potential Triple Crown.

With plenty to recap after a super packed past few days in the sports world, you know I’ve got my sleeves rolled up ready to rock and share my thoughts on all that went down as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

(6:24) All NBA Game 1’s are in the books with the Lakers puzzling loss, the Warriors gut one out and decisive wins by the home team open up the postseason.

(31:45) Five series commence in the Stanley Cup Playoffs with the home team winning all of them. Plus, a couple of coaches fired and attendance hits an all-time high for the sport.

(43:56) Is the Mets great start legitimate? Or should there be an asterisk? The psyche of Yankees closer Devin Williams. And enough of position players mopping up blowout games, evidenced by a 24-2 Reds win over Baltimore.

(59:59) Early thoughts on the NFL Draft as it’s set for three big days starting on Thursday night.

Celebrating another lap around the track, I’ll get to that in a little while, on this April Fool’s eve, there’ll be no fooling around when it comes to me going all in on everything that’s happening in sports as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

(5:52) As I commence the podcast, I’m asking for a bit of a favor. Today is my 56th birthday. I implore you (if you haven’t done so already) to please subscribe to the YouTube channel (@JAYREELZ) or whichever podcast platform you frequent (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc.) I sincerely appreciate it and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

(7:18) From 68 to four. For the first time since 2008 and the second time in Tournament history, all of the top seeds in each region will face off in the Final Four come Saturday in San Antonio. I’ll discuss how Florida, Auburn, Duke and Houston all got to this point as March Madness this year has been anything but.

(24:18) With less than two weeks remaining in the NBA season, why did the Memphis Grizzlies fire their head coach, Taylor Jenkins? Was it a move that was warranted? Or is this out of desperation? Kevin Durant suffers a left ankle sprain and will be out of the lineup for the immediate future. Are the Suns postseasons chances cooked? Have the 2024-25 Detroit Pistons gone back to yesteryear and are the Bad Boys 2.0? I’ll explain why while I’ll check in on where teams stand when it comes to the playoff chase in each conference. Quite frankly, there isn’t too much to write home about. Oh! If you’re not watching Celtics City on MAX, I suggest you start doing so.

(44:21) Are the defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers the team to beat in the playoffs over Washington, Toronto and the like in the Eastern Conference? I’ll share why that may be the case, plus, Alex Ovechkin adds another goal to get that much closer to Wayne Gretzky’s record. (And a possible retirement for the Great 8! Stay with me! I’ll explain.) Sidney Crosby takes down a Gretzky record himself over the past few days. (Could Ovechkin or Crosby be on the NHL’s Mt. Rushmore?) A classy gesture by the Capitals towards goaltender Marc Andre Fleury. I’ll see where we are in the division and wild card playoff races as we’re less than three weeks from the conclusion of the season.

(57:48) We’re just four days into the MLB campaign. We have the Dodgers and Yankees on a pace to go 162-0, with the latter using bats that have caused a stir. The Marlins lead the NL East with three walk off wins, no less. And three teams who made the postseason last year are all winless (DET, MIL, ATL)

(1:07:55) Is it possible that the 49ers will move WR Brandon Aiyuk by tomorrow? In an already active offseason by the once removed NFC Champions, nothing is out of bounds.

After a super busy weekend in sports, I have my tail between my legs as I’ve got plenty to be sorry for. Don’t worry, I’ll explain it all over the next hour plus as the latest podcast is here! On deck:

(6:42) I open up the podcast with several apologies for my performance on the most recent episode. (I’ll get into it throughout the course of this pod.) There was an NBA MVP battle between SGA & Nikola Jokic. Does Jokic deserve the award, even after losing to SGA yesterday? Who is the front runner at the moment. Also, the comparisons of this race to the NFL with Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Is there any concern for LeBron James and the Lakers as he suffered a groin injury late in their loss to the Celtics on Saturday night? He’ll be out a week or two for rest and recovery. I’ll also talk about the Knicks Jalen Brunson, the signing of PJ Tucker, comments from former owner of the Mavericks Mark Cuban about the Luka Doncic deal, a mention of the MAX docu-series on the Celtics and Stephen A. Smith being confronted by LeBron James about his critique of his son. The final topic being a lightning rod, even for someone like myself, where having a platform like this comes a responsibility to uphold. You won’t want to miss those comments, plus all that’s happening in the Association.

(36:49) Has Auburn jeopardized their top seed in the country after losing to Alabama at home 93-91? Could this be a stretch where they could falter entering into the Tournament?

(41:42) The NHL experienced a wild trade deadline on Friday where players were being shipped left and right, most notably, the Bruins fire sale sending Brad Marchand to Florida. And Mikko Rantanen was sent packing again to Dallas for a boatload of picks. I’ll break down all of the major trades, including the Islanders Brock Nelson as teams jockey for playoff positioning down the stretch. Alex Ovechkin in now single digits (nine away) from surpassing Wayne Gretzky. Will the pressure consume him? Or will it be business as usual for the Capitals great? I’ll peek as to what’s going on in the sport with the latest postseason races in each conference.

(57:02) There were some record setting signings and a huge trade and signing by my beloved football team. The Steelers acquired DK Metcalf from the Seahawks for a 2nd round pick, but then paid the talented wideout a five year, $150M dollar deal in the process. The bigger question is, who’s the quarterback? Not Aaron Rodgers has been now rumored. I’ll share who I want as QB as the Steelers go all in on procuring a WR. I’ll dissect the deals inked by Josh Allen, Myles Garrett, Davante Adams (the first two were records in the league) as you’ll get a complete assessment of that and look ahead to free agency, which begins on Wednesday.

(1:06:51) Baseball is technically eight days away (in Tokyo with the Dodgers vs. Cubs) but we’re two and a half weeks away from the season beginning. There have been plenty of injuries that have taken place throughout MLB. The Yankees are holding their collective breaths for the second spring in a row surrounding Gerrit Cole. Is Tommy John likely after he left a start with elbow discomfort? The Orioles have to hold out their young starter, Grayson Rodriguez with the same issue. The Mets have to put catcher Francisco Alvarez on the shelf for 6-8 weeks with a broken hamate bone. Vladimir Guerrero Jr’s final offer to the Blue Jays was below $600 million dollars. How many years was he looking for? Is that too much? And the Athletics keep spending to have their nucleus in tact, extending OF Lawrence Butler to a six year deal.

(1:12:45) Alex Pereira loses his fifth defense of his light heavyweight title to Magomed Ankalaev by unanimous decision on Saturday night. Is a rematch in order?

With a handful of days left in the month and a celebration coming at the end of the week, you know I’m excited to share what lies ahead in the sports world and the podcast, so thanks for stopping by to consume it all as the latest podcast is here! On deck:

(6:42) I’m pumped to share and remind everyone about the seventh anniversary of the podcast this Saturday, which will be a LIVESTREAM on YouTube. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled for more information as we get closer to March 1st.

(7:12) It was a big week for the NHL with the success of the 4 Nations Face-Off I’m sure it was more than what the commissioner could’ve ever expected. Will there be any carryover as the season has resumed? Alex Ovechkin is now a bakers dozen away from passing Wayne Gretzky on the all time goal scoring list. Will he do it before the season is over? It’s time to dissect the Wild Card races in both the East and West. And with the trade deadline just ten days away, it should be a busy week as teams will look for reinforcements as we get to the final third of the season.

(28:19) On the hardwood, you have to be heavily concerned about the NY Knicks. They not only lost, but they were destroyed out of the All-Star Break losing big to Cleveland and Boston on the road. Are they missing a certain ingredient? Are they title worthy? Things aren’t looking up in San Antonio as phenom Victor Wembanyama will sit out the rest of the season with a blood clot, while coach Gregg Popovich won’t return as he’s recovering from a stroke. What will the Sixers do with Joel Embiid? Surgery on his knee? Just rest? The conundrum is that they are STILL in the playoff mix even though they’re 14 games under .500. I’ll see what else is popping in the Association (Luka Doncic ready to take off after his biggest game as a Laker on Saturday night) as things seem to be quiet overall.

(49:06) College basketball is waiting to bask in the month of March, because things have been rather low key over the past few days. Although there were a few upsets (Miss St., Missouri, Texas A&M) and St. John’s win vs. UConn, there isn’t  much to discuss.

(52:05) MLB Spring Training has begun. Juan Soto hits a HR in his first at-bat. A sign of things to come for the new Met right fielder? Yankees extend Aaron Boone for two more years, and have also raised the ban on facial hair, but what about hair length? Then you have MLB & ESPN mutually agreeing to part ways after the ’25 season, with three years left on their deal. Where will MLB go next?

(1:00:23) Lastly, the NFL had some news where there was a retirement (Cowboys Zach Martin) and two hirings of note (JAX GM James Gladstone and NO DC Brandon Staley, who reconnects with Kellen Moore)
