Surprising 2-0, 0-2 Teams Highlight NFL Week 2. Colorado Avoids Scare. Alabama Out Of Top 10! O's Hold Off Rays. D-Backs Rolling In NL. Blue Jackets Coach Resigns Under Strange Allegations

Although fall is still officially five days away, the first of two podcasts this week officially arrives to your computer, tablet or mobile phone as I delve in on all that happening in sports. On deck:

(3:32) NFL Week 2 is just about in the books. My theme early on in this season are the surprising 2-0 teams and 0-2 teams. I'll get into my usual winners (i.e. Falcons, Seahawks, Giants) and losers (i.e. Broncos, Chargers) of the week, go through yesterday's docket as I review all that took place in the league.

(27:45) With a lot of bluster, bulletin board material leading up to a game that was "personal" for Coach Prime, Deion Sanders, they had to eke out a hard fought win at home vs. in state rivals Colorado State. They lost a key player (i.e. Travis Hunter) and have two tough conference games upcoming (i.e. Oregon & USC). Alabama out of the top 10? That's correct as they're currently #13 in the nation. Tyler Buchner doesn't seem to be the answer at QB. What does Nick Saban do at this point?

(34:10) We're down to the final two weeks of the MLB regular season. There are still division and wild card spots to be secured. The Orioles bounced back in their four game series with the Rays nicely. After losing the first two games, they salvaged the back two and have a couple game lead in the AL East. The AL West is hotly contested between the Astros, Mariners and Rangers, with the latter two in a rock fight for wild card spots against the Blue Jays. Which says a ton about the NL wild card, because the Diamondbacks have catapulted to the second wild card team after a sweep over the Cubs who have fallen from the playoff mix. The Marlins continue to scrap and claw after a sweep over the Braves at home as they currently have the final seed in the NL. Will the Cubs, Reds and even Giants make a last second push? I'll break down all of the schedule for the remaining teams jockeying for position to set themselves up for the Hunt For Red October. I'll also discuss the news of Angels Shohei Ohtani cleaning out his locker as he's shut down for the rest of the year (with two weeks to go????) And the Red Sox fire VP of baseball operations, Chaim Bloom after three plus years in Boston. Was this expected or warranted?

(50:31) A strange development took place in Columbus over the past few days. With NHL training camps open, Blue Jackets coach Mike Babcock removed himself as rumors came out about him invading privacy of his players, as it was reported, he grilled them over photos in their cell phones and alleged told them to AirPlay them for all to see on the screen during team meetings. Have you heard of anything as peculiar as this?

Aaron Rodgers Injury Impact On Team, Schedule & League. Teams That Need To Rebound In Week 2. Scherzer Injury Stifles Rangers. Rays Battle O's For AL East. NBA Cracks Down On Load Management.

September is moving fast. Summer is officially starting to make its way out, but ushering its way in is the latest fast paced, informative podcast as I cover all that's going on in sports. On deck:

(3:00) All it took was four offensive plays for the new quarterback of the New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers to go down for the season with a torn Achilles. What impact does this have toward the team, the backup QB Zach Wilson, the schedule and the league on a whole as they try to recover from this devastating injury. I'll take a look at who needs to rebound from bad Week 1 losses as Week 2 is here. A Monday night doubleheader forthcoming? This is the first of a few on the docket this year. Why I'm not a fan of the double dose of football, especially happening multiple times throughout the season?

(30:13) It's a super weak Saturday on the schedule for college football, but next Saturday's slate of games are more intriguing.

(32:14) We're down to the final dozen and a half games of the MLB season. The Rangers suffer a huge blow as Max Scherzer is done for the regular season with a triceps injury, with the postseason in doubt. The race for the AL West is wild and wooly between the Astros, Mariners and Rangers. Will all three qualify for the playoffs? The Mets finally get their man to run the baseball operations as former Brewer exec David Stearns, a Flushing native, will man the ship over the next few years. How much work does he have in front of him? There's a huge series in the AL East as Tampa Bay will visit Baltimore for four games to potentially decide who'll be division champs.

(42:33) The NBA is cracking down on teams and players when it comes to load management as they have a tier of fines for those who sit out players that aren't hampered with a significant injury. Why this is a boon for the Association and I'll make a comparison to players/teams of the past who would scoff at the notion of taking games off?

Kraken KO Cup Champs? Leafs Ready To Slay Dragons? Kawhi's Post Series Diagnosis? Heat Check/Butler's Heart, Bucks Long Summer. Pros Outweigh Cons For Rodgers In NY? NFL Draft Peek At Round 1

It's been a wild past few days in the sports universe and here to share all of my thoughts, feelings and opinions on all of the matters at hand with the latest podcast episode. On deck:

(2:43) The Seattle Kraken have made a statement to show that they not only belong in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but they're on the verge of pulling off a huge upset in beating the defending Cup Champion, Colorado Avalanche. Can they pull it off at home in Game 6? The Maple Leafs are one game away from finally getting over the hump and winning a first round series. Why the longer the series goes it doesn't favor them? Most of the series are at 3-2, including the Islanders who saved their season with a Game 5 win in Carolina. Will they push this to a 7th game? I'll have the entire first round update as we're in the homestretch to the end of Round 1.

(18:29) The NBA has made a fool out of yours truly as these first round series has picked up some steam as three of the remaining series have some intrigue and drama. First, the Suns beat the Clippers handily in five games. It's not until after the Clippers were ousted that we find out that Kawhi Leonard suffered a torn meniscus. Why wait until the conclusion of the series to apprise us? The Heat become the sixth #8 seed to upset the top seed in the conference as Jimmy Butler willed his team to two improbable wins in Games 4 & 5. Why Butler has the biggest heart in all of the NBA? And there's lots to answer in Milwaukee as coach Mike Budenholzer has lots of explaining to do with some awful coaching in key spots as they're home for the spring. I'll discuss the Knicks blitzing the Cavaliers in 5 as we get set for a Knicks-Heat second round matchup. Will it be anything close to what we saw in the 90's between these two franchises? I'll also get into the Hawks-Celtics series and how the pressure is on the C's? Why Golden State is in the drivers seat with a tough road win in Sacramento? And the Lakers are going back to Cali to see if they can close out the Grizzlies in Game 6. Plus, Ime Udoka has found a new home as he's the new coach of the Houston Rockets.

(46:08) I briefly stress over the Mets losing the first two of three at home against the Washington Nationals before delving into the NFL. Aaron Rodgers is finally a New York Jet. Do the cons outweigh the pros now that he's officially in green and white? The NFL Draft kicks off tonight as Round 1 will take place in Kansas City. Where will the top quarterbacks fall as football fans will have their fill over the next few days to see who their favorite team will draft.

(1:01:42) I cap off the pod with some quick notes on baseball regarding the Pirates, Max Scherzer's suspension and the Braves visiting New York to play the Mets over the weekend.

Madness Begins With Final 4 & Title Predictions. Morant's Weak Suspension. NHL Canes Take Another Hit. NFL Free Agency: Rodgers Saga. Yanks Owner & Judge: BFF's? Diaz Hurt As Mets Lose Again

Let the Madness begin! Not just in college basketball, but other things happening in sports that has me crazy at the moment. On deck:

(2:53) I'm in a foul sports mood, so I'm on edge with a couple of scenarios that have come about in the last two days.

(3:38) The Sports Dead Zone, Part 1 has now concluded as we raise the curtain on the NCAA Tournament as we get set for a frantic four days leading into the Sweet Sixteen. I'll predict who'll make it to the Final Four. Which teams will play for the National Championship? And who'll cut down the nets when it's all said and done?

(20:46) As the lowly Houston Rockets have had some surprising wins this week over the Celtics and Lakers, the big story is the eight game suspension handed down by the NBA to Grizzlies guard, Ja Morant. Why this was a weak attempt at sending a message throughout the league as this was a retroactive suspension at best. I'll take a look at what's going on throughout the Association when it comes to teams jockeying for playoff positioning.

(26:41) On the ice, the NHL has been quiet for the most part. The Hurricanes lose a key player who is done for the year (Andrei Svechnikov) as I'll update the latest in the division and wild card races in both conferences.

(32:13) The business year for the NFL has opened. There's been plenty of player movement over the past week. I'll highlight the Aaron Rodgers saga, him wanting to come to New York, the 'demands' if he became a Jet and not if, but when, will this deal take place? Jimmy Garoppolo has found a new home in Las Vegas with his former offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels. I thought this was a good move for the Raiders, but it comes with a huge caveat. I'll run through some of the hot topics ranging from Ezekiel Elliott, Baker Mayfield, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Lamar Jackson's latest development regarding his contract. Quite a bit to digest as The Shield continues make waves in the sports world as their off-season is just getting started. I was remiss not to mention on the previous podcast that former Vikings coach Bud Grant passed away last week at the age of 95.

(47:38) As I close out with baseball, both New York teams are front and center. Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner has become BFF's with reigning MVP Aaron Judge, to the point that his star player has input on renovation to the teams spring training complex. Are you kidding? Then you have Mets closer Edwin Diaz after putting out the fire vs. the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic, injures his leg while CELEBRATING Puerto Rico's win to advance. Who knows the extent of his injury, but it sure doesn't look good as Met fans everywhere, including yours truly, are surely sick over this.

BUF-KC Classic Highlights Epic NFL Divisional Round. The End For Brady/Rodgers? AFC/NFC Title Preview. Remembering Clark Gillies. Nadal's Path To 21st Slam. Ngannou's MMA Champ

Get ready for an action packed, fast paced, sports podcast party as Episode #235 delivers that and then some with all that's taking place in the world of competition. On deck:

(4:25) The NFL experienced the best Divisional Round in the history of the playoffs, where three of the four teams won on the road in the final seconds and the fourth was a game for the ages!

First up, was the horror show of coaching and quarterbacking by Mike Vrabel & Ryan Tannehill of the Tennessee Titans as they were upset at home by the cool, calm and collected Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Next, was the Green Bay Packers imploding at home as Aaron Rodgers couldn't deliver in the clutch, same for their special teams as the 49ers escape out of Lambeau Field with a big time road victory by their stout defense and some key throws by QB, Jimmy Garoppolo. What's next for Aaron Rodgers? Is this it for him in Green Bay?

The Rams jumped out to a big lead in Tampa, but slowly and surely gave it back due to a few costly turnovers to draw the Buccaneers even. In the end, it was Matthew Stafford's connection to his safety blanket, Cooper Kupp as they marched down the field as time was expiring and hit the go ahead field goal at the final gun. So the defending champions are dethroned as Stafford outplayed Brady, the Bucs defense was awful and now the questions will arise...is this is for Tom Brady?

Just when we thought the three games prior were tough acts to follow, the Bills & Chiefs played an epic, classic playoff game to top them all. It was a near flawless game with only four penalties flagged, zero turnovers, A+ play from both QB's (Josh Allen & Patrick Mahomes) lead changes late in the game, a botched kickoff by Buffalo with :13 seconds left, another final second field goal in regulation. Then the clincher as the Chiefs win it with a TD in OT, which brings up an interesting topic...should both teams get the ball in OT no matter what happens? KC's grit and talent rises to the top. As for the Bills, as heroic as Josh Allen and WR Gabriel Davis was, a long offseason of 'what if's' will be replayed over and over as they were thisclose from hosting the AFC Title Game in their building.

I'll preview both Conference Championship Games, the intrigue and storylines of the 49ers-Rams. Why I don't like the Bengals this time around vs. KC? What would be the best possible Super Bowl matchup be? And some off the field news regarding personnel on some teams throughout the league.

(1:07:06) The Bulls have suffered a couple of injuries to their roster as they lose their standing as the top dog in the East, but the Association is rather quiet as we approach the end of January.

(1:08:52) The same could be said in college basketball as Gonzaga still has the #1 seed in the country as there were no major upsets in the sport over the past week. It's looking as if we're going to have a wide open March Madness which isn't for another month and a half.

(1:09:41) Sadly, I'll remember one of the great New York Islander players who passed away too soon as Clark Gillies died this past Friday. I'll go over how tough and what type of player he was, what he meant to this historic Islander team and the mark he left on those he touched after his playing days were over. Also, the schedule makers have revamped the games that were lost in the early part of the year due to COVID, as well as, taking a look to catch up on what's happening out on the ice.

(1:16:11) The players will step in on Monday (today) and propose their deal to the owners as they try their best to get something done with pitchers and catchers scheduled to report in three weeks. Is there hope for any progress as February nears? MLB did one smart thing. Not having the Rays split their seasons with the city of Montreal which would've been disastrous for the sport.

(1:19:58) I'll have the latest update with what's going on in the Australian Open. It looks like the #1 seed in Ash Barty on the women's side is the favorite to win it all at the moment. Rafael Nadal is still alive on the men's side. Does he have a chance to get to his 21st career Grand Slam win?

(1:22:02) I'll briefly touch on the heavyweight MMA bout between Francis Ngannou vs. Cyril Gane as Ngannou unifies the UFC heavyweight title. Did the match live up to the hype?

(1:23:55) In closing, my Hero and Zero of the Week.
