With the month of May on the horizon, April promises to go out like a lion as there’s plenty to discuss throughout the sports landscape as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

(4:15) I can go in many different directions to kick off the the podcast, but I’ll start off with some intrigue in the NBA as the first round is taking shape. How will the Knicks fare after a rough two game stretch? Who’ll come out on top in the Raptors-Cavs series? Will the Pistons draw even and not fall into a 3-1 deficit? Can the Nuggets run the table with Anthony Edwards out for the T-wolves? I’ll take each matchup one by one and forecast how this’ll play out over the next few days.

(28:49) As for the NHL, it’s pretty cut and dry. Two teams have advanced (COL & CAR), three teams are up 3-1 (PHI, BUF, ANA) two are even (MIN-DAL, MTL-TB) and one series is heading into Game 4 with the Mammoth up on Vegas. Will there be any drama as these first round series come to a close?

(40:45) The Boston Red Sox have fired manager Alex Cora, to the chagrin of some players on the team. Will this be the jump start that the BoSox needed? And are two other managers (Mets Carlos Mendoza & Phillies Rob Thomson) next in line to go?

(56:46) The NFL Draft is in the books. I’ll share some takeaways, with the biggest one is how overrated are grades, winners and losers of the event. Also, should Mike Vrabel be suspended, or even terminated, for his behavior off the field with former Athletic writer, Diana Russini?

(1:18:10) Tennis takes a huge hit going into their second major Grand Slam tournament of the year next month as Carlos Alcaraz will sit out due to a wrist injury. How does that bode for the reigning #1 player in the world Jannik Sinner?

It’s time to uncover the weekend and beyond of what’s taking place and what’s forthcoming when it comes to what’s between the white lines in the world of sports as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

(35:06) It was a rather ho-hum NFL Week 6, but the big storyline from yesterday are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Are they a legit Super Bowl contender? I’ll check on what else transpired yesterday as the season is a third of the way into their schedule.

(49:12) I have to shut up about Indiana Hoosier football. They impressed by winning at Oregon and finally beat a team of high ilk. Will this continue? As for a team that was expected to be back in the college football playoff, things have gone south at Penn State as they’ve lost three in a row and fired their head coach, James Franklin. Was it premature? Or was now the right time?

(58:51) LeBron James will be sidelined for 3-4 weeks with a sciatica issue. How will this impact the Lakers as the season commences a week from tomorrow? Congratulations to the Las Vegas Aces who swept the Phoenix Mercury en route to their third title in four years.

(1:03:27) Almost a week into the NHL season, there are a few things to discuss (Panthers off to 3-0 start. Same for the Bruins. Glowing reviews of Islanders #1 overall pick, Matthew Schaefer)

After a super busy weekend in sports, I have my tail between my legs as I’ve got plenty to be sorry for. Don’t worry, I’ll explain it all over the next hour plus as the latest podcast is here! On deck:

(6:42) I open up the podcast with several apologies for my performance on the most recent episode. (I’ll get into it throughout the course of this pod.) There was an NBA MVP battle between SGA & Nikola Jokic. Does Jokic deserve the award, even after losing to SGA yesterday? Who is the front runner at the moment. Also, the comparisons of this race to the NFL with Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Is there any concern for LeBron James and the Lakers as he suffered a groin injury late in their loss to the Celtics on Saturday night? He’ll be out a week or two for rest and recovery. I’ll also talk about the Knicks Jalen Brunson, the signing of PJ Tucker, comments from former owner of the Mavericks Mark Cuban about the Luka Doncic deal, a mention of the MAX docu-series on the Celtics and Stephen A. Smith being confronted by LeBron James about his critique of his son. The final topic being a lightning rod, even for someone like myself, where having a platform like this comes a responsibility to uphold. You won’t want to miss those comments, plus all that’s happening in the Association.

(36:49) Has Auburn jeopardized their top seed in the country after losing to Alabama at home 93-91? Could this be a stretch where they could falter entering into the Tournament?

(41:42) The NHL experienced a wild trade deadline on Friday where players were being shipped left and right, most notably, the Bruins fire sale sending Brad Marchand to Florida. And Mikko Rantanen was sent packing again to Dallas for a boatload of picks. I’ll break down all of the major trades, including the Islanders Brock Nelson as teams jockey for playoff positioning down the stretch. Alex Ovechkin in now single digits (nine away) from surpassing Wayne Gretzky. Will the pressure consume him? Or will it be business as usual for the Capitals great? I’ll peek as to what’s going on in the sport with the latest postseason races in each conference.

(57:02) There were some record setting signings and a huge trade and signing by my beloved football team. The Steelers acquired DK Metcalf from the Seahawks for a 2nd round pick, but then paid the talented wideout a five year, $150M dollar deal in the process. The bigger question is, who’s the quarterback? Not Aaron Rodgers has been now rumored. I’ll share who I want as QB as the Steelers go all in on procuring a WR. I’ll dissect the deals inked by Josh Allen, Myles Garrett, Davante Adams (the first two were records in the league) as you’ll get a complete assessment of that and look ahead to free agency, which begins on Wednesday.

(1:06:51) Baseball is technically eight days away (in Tokyo with the Dodgers vs. Cubs) but we’re two and a half weeks away from the season beginning. There have been plenty of injuries that have taken place throughout MLB. The Yankees are holding their collective breaths for the second spring in a row surrounding Gerrit Cole. Is Tommy John likely after he left a start with elbow discomfort? The Orioles have to hold out their young starter, Grayson Rodriguez with the same issue. The Mets have to put catcher Francisco Alvarez on the shelf for 6-8 weeks with a broken hamate bone. Vladimir Guerrero Jr’s final offer to the Blue Jays was below $600 million dollars. How many years was he looking for? Is that too much? And the Athletics keep spending to have their nucleus in tact, extending OF Lawrence Butler to a six year deal.

(1:12:45) Alex Pereira loses his fifth defense of his light heavyweight title to Magomed Ankalaev by unanimous decision on Saturday night. Is a rematch in order?

On the penultimate day of February with a new month and another year for the podcast on the horizon, you know I’m pumped up to deliver another fun filled hour of sports talk as the latest edition has arrived. On deck:

(6:18) A reminder for all as I’ll detail the 7th Anniversary Livestream that’ll take place on Saturday, March 1st, so you won’t want to miss this.

(7:44) Luka Doncic played against his former teammates for the first time in a win in LA over the Mavericks Tuesday night. He’s glad that it’s over, but is it really? I’ll go in on the Phoenix Suns as they are by far the biggest disappointment in the NBA this year. Should the organization blow things up at seasons’ end? There’s a heavyweight matchup tomorrow night in Boston as the Cavaliers will the face the Celtics. What will this mean in the grand scheme of things if the Celtics win? I’ll check on what else is going on throughout the Association (and props to Diana Taurasi, who’s retiring after a 20 year career in the WNBA) as we’re down to the final third of the season.

(25:26) As for what’s going on in college basketball, you had #4 ranked Florida upset by Georgia after coming back from a 26 point deficit. Is this a bad loss for the Gators? And Kansas has fallen out of the Top 25, which is a surprise, considering they were the preseason favorite #1 team in the nation.

(31:01) On the ice, Alex Ovechkin continues his assault on Wayne Gretzky’s goal scoring record as he’s 12 away from breaking it. The Rangers suffer a key loss on defense. How much will that hurt their playoff chances? And I’m appalled that the second rematch of last year’s Stanley Cup Final isn’t being broadcast at all as the Oilers try to snap their losing streak in Florida against the Panthers. There’s some sad news as I’ll pay respect to broadcaster Al Trautwig, who died at the age of 68.

(45:08) Have you heard about how much the Dodgers are dishing out in deferred money? And for how long? Ha! I’ll be more than happy to share that as I don’t want to hear about Bobby Bonilla Day anymore as long as I’m alive. Shohei Ohtani will make his spring debut tomorrow vs. his former team in the Angels. Will he pitch? Guardians patriarch and former owner, Lawrence Dolan, dies at 94.

(52:05) Can we finally say goodbye to the Tush Push? It may possibly come to fruition. Packers GM has come out to see if the play can get a permanent ban that the Eagles work to near perfection. Why I think the play needs to be pushed out forever? I’m not into all of these Matthew Stafford trade rumors as I’ll explain why. The Bengals have stated that they’ll pay WR Ja’Marr Chase the most in the sport as a non-QB. Why this could’ve been avoided dating back to a year ago?

A new month has arrived, same for a new week, who knows if spring will arrive early on this day after Groundhog Day, but one thing is certain, that your favorite little podcast host will have a lot to dive into when it comes to what’s going on in sports as the latest podcast is here! On deck:

(6:49) It took the NBA and the entire sports universe by surprise. The late night trade between the Mavericks and Lakers sending Luka Doncic to LA, with Anthony Davis going to Dallas, among other players and draft picks. Did Luka fall out of favor in Dallas? Is AD the final piece to a championship puzzle? Were other teams involved? It was shocking, to say the least to have two All NBA players traded in season. I’ll also discuss the Kings trading De’Aaron Fox to San Antonio in a three team deal. Does it automatically make them a playoff team? I’ll check in on Jimmy Butler’s situation and another trade that took place as the deadline is Thursday at 3pm. I’ll see who’s been playing well and keep you abreast of the latest on the hardwood.

(32:32) Super Bowl LIX is now six days away. I’ll uncover the top storylines, oh wait, other than Saquon Barkley and no Jason Kelce, are there any other angles to sink our teeth into considering these squads played against one another two year ago? Pete Carroll finds an offensive coordinator to run the ship in Vegas. You may be surprised who it is.

(37:31) College basketball is starting to hit its stride as March Madness will be here before you know it. I’ll recap the week that was (Iowa State loses at home for the first time in forever, Duke’s Cooper Flagg shows complete arsenal vs. UNC, Kansas suffers biggest deficit blown vs. Baylor. Coach Cal’s return to Kentucky as he gets the last laugh vs. his former team) as there’s plenty to unwrap on the collegiate circuit.

(46:00) The NBA isn’t the only league that’s had blockbuster trades. On the ice, the Rangers continue to wheel and deal as they re-acquire former #1 pick JT Miller from Vancouver as they do their best to get themselves back into the playoff mix. The Dallas Stars get reinforcements bringing in two players, including defenseman Cody Ceci that is much needed for a depleted backline. You had milestones (Rangers goalie Jonathan Quick reaches 400 wins, the most by a US born netminder). Alex Ovechkin is now 18 goals from surpassing Wayne Gretzky all time. A great scene in Montreal for native son Marc-Andre Fleury in his last game at the Bell Centre. And Canadian fans booing the National Anthem? I have a word or two on that so I’ll throw my two cents in on what’s happening North of the Border.

(1:00:11) Pitchers and catchers are less than two weeks away. The Tigers re-up on pitcher Jack Flaherty. The Blue Jays sign aging Max Scherzer to a one year deal. And the passing of former commissioner Fay Vincent who had bladder cancer at the age of 86.

(1:03:02) Israel Adesanya was TKO’d in the second round on Saturday vs. Nassourine Imavov. Could this be the beginning of the end for the UFC fighter?

Christmas may be over, but the Grinch (yours truly) will certainly put plenty of coal in your stocking as this is a rather spicy podcast detailing all that’s transpired in the sports world. On deck:

(6:45) I have to express my displeasure of the NFL ‘cannibalizing’ themselves with the oversaturating of the sport with broadcasts on a million platforms. Games played on multiple days of the week, jamming down these contests down our throats. When is enough, enough? Week 17 is off to a rather brutal start. Other than Beyonce’s halftime performance, the NFL games yesterday were unwatchable! There are questions emanating from all four contestants. Who’s beating the Chiefs? Are the Steelers shrinking to where they won’t be long for the postseason? Is this the Ravens/Lamar Jackson’s year? Can you take the Houston Texans seriously? I’ll go through the rest of the weeks schedule. I’ll make a mention of two big losses in college football regarding personnel who will not play in the Notre Dame-Georgia Sugar Bowl matchup on Wednesday night. Also, former Eagles LB Bill Bergey passed away at the age of 79. CORRECTION: At the 11:00 minute mark, I mentioned Chicago is fighting for a playoff spot. It’s Seattle. My apologies as I got carried away with my commentary throughout the podcast.

(39:00) The NBA had their banner day on Christmas as Victor Wembanyama impresses, Luka Doncic goes down with a calf injury. Are the Sixers out of their early season malaise? What’s going on with the Celtics? The Lakers win a classic as Austin Reaves saves the day with a triple double and game clinching layup. Off the court, Heat guard Jimmy Butler prefers to leave Miami for greener pastures. Where will he possibly end up? And is it possible that Wembanyama could be the face of the NBA down the road?

(50:43) On the ice, the NHL has taken a few days off due to the holiday, which the Rangers have seem to be on an extended one, considering how they’ve played in the last month and change. Is another shakeup in order? The Sabres snap their 13 game losing streak in resounding fashion vs. the Islanders Monday, which segues to a diatribe on my favorite hockey team. Kudos to Sidney Crosby tying Mario Lemieux on the all time assist category in the league’s history.

(58:31) The MLB Hot Stove may cool off here, unless something sparks up over the last week of 2024. With Corbin Burnes, Pete Alonso, Alex Bregman and the like still available, could a transaction take place? If not now, when? I’ll part with thoughts on Walker Buehler signing with the Red Sox and why the Mets did not have any interest? And can they sign lefty reliever Tanner Scott to shore up their bullpen?

Your boy is playing injured as I’m battling a hoarse voice that came out of nowhere, but that won’t stop me from sharing my thoughts and opinions on ALL that’s taking place in sports. On deck:

(6:40) The LA Dodgers took care of business at home winning the first two games of the World Series. Now the scene shifts to New York for the next two (at least) maybe three games. Is this Fall Classic, for all intents and purposes, over? I’ll explain why that’s not the case and make a play for the Yankees to draw even in the Series for a pivotal Game 5 on Wednesday night? I’ll unpack the managing of Aaron Boone and Dave Roberts, how Aaron Judge is becoming playoff A-Rod prior to his 2009 run and how many people have watched and paid attention to the heavyweight matchup.

(29:04) We’re approaching the halfway point of the NFL season. Week 8 had some good (Jayden Daniels Hail Mary and success in DC), bad (the AFC East, and both Souths have been clinched?) and the ugly (the Jets have hit rock bottom) are the key highlights from Sunday’s action. I’ll also get on Ravens coach John Harbaugh, Tua’s return to Miami, another vicious play by the Saints defense, the Packers get out of Jacksonville alive, are the Bengals done and can the NFL upstage Election Day?

(51:14) College football in Week 9 was mostly quiet, although the big game was Texas A&M coming from behind after a big gamble changing quarterbacks. It catapulted them to a 38-23 win over LSU. Where do the Aggies stand in the college football playoff as the first announcement of the rankings will be tomorrow?

(56:12) The NBA is just about a week old with the Lakers back where they belong, 3-0 at the top of the West. Kevin Durant reaches a lofty milestone, with another one forthcoming. Steph Curry suffered an ankle sprain which could keep him out of the lineup for the foreseeable future.

(59:46) Break up the Jets! Not the football team. The hockey team as they are 8-0 to begin the season. How long will this streak last? Same could be said about the San Jose Sharks who haven’t won as of yet. Teams that have recovered from slow starts are the Avalanche, Predators and Hurricanes. The Rangers sign their 2020 #1 overall pick, Alexis Lafreniere to a seven year deal as he’s slowly becoming one of the top players in the league.

(1:03:48) There was a UFC fight on Saturday night where Ilia Topuria surprisingly KO’s Max Holloway in the third round, the first time that’s happened to Holloway. Could a rematch be in the works?

Here to detail what lies ahead over the course of an 82 game regular season and beyond is my 2024-25 NBA Preview. I’ll share the top storylines (Will the Celtics repeat? Can the Knicks or Sixers overtake the C’s in a top heavy Eastern Conference? A wide open and loaded West where the new guard, {OKC, MIN, NO, MEM & SAC} could rule the top of the conference over the old guard {LAL, GS, LAC, DEN & PHX) heading into tonight’s tip-off in Boston where the Celtics will raise Banner 18 to the TD Garden rafters. I’ll have my surprise and disappointment, over/unders and a prediction on who’ll raise the Lawrence O’Brien Trophy come mid-June. It’s wall to wall basketball for the casual or diehard fan who wants to get their fix on the upcoming campaign.

The Biggest Game In NHL History? A Historic Game 7 Tonight. MLB Has Yanks Reeling. O’s Swept. Astros On The Move & Scherzer’s Return. Will JJ Experiment Work In LA? No NBA Draft Buzz

As the Northeast and a lot of the nation was under some record heat as summer arrived on Thursday, there won’t be much cooling off, ESPECIALLY when it comes to yours truly. Doing what I love to deliver all of the latest and greatest in the world of sports. On deck:

(4:14) It all boils down to tonight. A Game 7 of epic proportions with history in the making. No matter how you slice it, the Edmonton Oilers-Florida Panthers could be a game to remember. I’ll break down all of the drama, intrigue and suspense leading into tonight’s matchup. What it will mean to the Oilers if they win or lose? And the same for the Panthers?

(27:28) MLB had a very interesting few days as it’ll be soon the only major sport standing until we get to September. Baseball did a great job covering the Tribute to the Negro Leagues game on Rickwood Field Thursday night in Birmingham, AL. The Yankees haven’t fared well against the better opposition in the league as they’ve lost four of their last five series. The Orioles, coming off of winning two out of three vs. the Yanks, get swept in Houston. The first time they’ve been swept in the regular season since 2022. Speaking of the Astros, they’re trying to get back in the thick of the AL West/playoff picture as they’ve won five in a row. Then you have Max Scherzer, returning to the Rangers starting rotation, putting up a solid five inning outing against the Royals as they try to make a run in light of their World Series championship last year. In the NL, the Phillies took two of three vs. Arizona as they met after their NLCS encounter a year ago. Break up the Mets? They’ve won 13 of 19, but will lose their closer Edwin Diaz to suspension because of sticky stuff. Seriously?

(47:42 ) The worst kept secret in the NBA was confirmed as JJ Redick is the next coach of the LA Lakers. With LeBron James’s influence and friendship with JJ, could this turn out to be disastrous? OKC made a shrewd trade by acquiring Alex Caruso from Chicago for Josh Giddey. Plus, the NBA Draft is forthcoming on Wednesday and Thursday this week, taking a page out of the NFL, spreading out the draft over a couple of days.
