August closes out in grand style as I’ve got a ton to discuss with all of the latest and greatest that the sports world has to offer. On deck:

(5:27) Is it a foregone conclusion that the Los Angeles Rams will be Super Bowl Champions? After the re-signing of star DL Aaron Donald you would certainly think so. I’ll get into why that may or may not be the case as the season kicks off next Wednesday. I’ll also chime in about the key roster moves yesterday as teams trimmed their rosters down to 53.

(23:59) The Yankees win three of four against their heat rivals from Boston and take the season series. Why this is crucial and what this means for both teams down the road. Plus, the latest in the sports when it comes to the pennant races and MLB is trying to toss the idea of having a free agent frenzy similar to the NFL & NBA?

(44:28) We’ve had a huge upset at the US Open, which kicked off yesterday. Novak Djokovic loses in five sets due to ailments as he couldn’t get out of the first round. What does this mean for the men’s side of the tournament, especially the return of Carlos Alcaraz? NOTE: I forgot to talk about the MLB schedule for the early part of the week in the baseball segment, as well as, catching you up on the standings too. My apologies there.

(1:03:59) College football is back in our consciousness as the season quietly begun on Saturday with Bill Belichick’s UNC team topping TCU in Dublin for its first win.

(1:04:39) The NHL has the first even $20 million dollar man as the Avalanche sign defenseman, Cale Makar, to an eight year deal. Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck has asked to be traded, but where is he going with training camps set to open in two and a half weeks?

(1:08:45) Scottie Scheffler wins the FedEx Cup for the second time in three years. Does he still deserve to be the #1 golfer in the world after not winning a major Grand Slam tournament this year?

(1:11:00) Umar Nurmagomedov was shockingly upset in China by Song Yadong on Saturday as he was KO’d in the second round.

(58:32) The NBA lost a coaching legend, who also made one of the biggest shots in NBA history. Don Nelson, the second winningest coach in league history died at the age of 86 as I’ll remember his basketball life.

(6:42) OKC showed what they were made of in Game 4 as SGA’s big fourth quarter ties the series at two. How will Game 5 and the rest of the Finals play out starting tonight? There was a huge trade in the Association as the Magic go all in on former Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane. Is he worth two players and four unprotected first round picks? Also, the Knicks head coaching search continues and where does Kevin Durant end up?

(27:17) The Florida Panthers are one win away from going back to back against the Edmonton Oilers. Not even a crushing Game 4 defeat will slow down the defending champs as they dominated Game 5 on the road. Will this series go back to Western Canada in Game 7? Or will the Panthers wrap up another championship?

(40:44) The saga between the Red Sox and Rafael Devers came to an abrupt end with the disgruntled DH getting shipped to San Francisco for two pitchers and prospects. Was this a good move by Boston? Does this make the Giants contenders in the NL? Plus, it was a lost weekend for the New York teams as they were both surprisingly swept. And Shohei Ohtani will make his Dodgers pitching debut vs. San Diego. What should we expect?

(57:35) After what was a US Open to forget, one player came up from the rubble to win the tournament. His name is JJ Spaun. I’ll recap what turned out to be a slog and a wet one at that as the third golf major of the year is already in the books.

I’ve got my sleeves rolled up, ready to unleash the inner sports beast as I have plenty to say over the course of the next hour plus as the latest episode is here. On deck:

(6:48) NFL Week 1 was all that, a bag of chips and a six pack of your favorite beer. You have 15 cities that is dreaming of a trip to the Super Bowl and 15 others that think the sky is falling and that their season is over. There are four places that have expectations, but disappointed their fan base (i.e. Falcons, Browns, Bengals & Giants) due to their lack of execution and flat play. I’ll highlight each team, go through all of the games this weekend. On top of unpacking Dak Prescott’s the richest player in NFL history, Lamar Jackson’s play in the opener against KC, the Ravens predictability on offense, Roger Goodell wanting SIXTEEN international games and Kendrick Lamar’s your Super Bowl Halftime performer. How do you think his adversary, Drake feels about this?

(45:58) There were two loud booms in a rather quiet college football Week 2. Texas went into the Big House to play the defending champion Michigan as took them to the back of the woodshed, winning 31-12. Is Texas a threat to be a champion before the end of the year? Will Michigan bounce back from his hangover? What happened to Notre Dame? They were a 28.5 point favorite vs. Northern Illinois only to lose in the final seconds 16-14. Does this loss bode well for the Fightin’ Irish? Or one that may be tough to overcome in the long run?

(53:20) We’re down to the final three weeks of the MLB season. Things are status quo as there are only two races worth discussing. The AL East between the Yankees-Orioles and the final NL Wild Card spot with the Braves-Mets.

(58:56) The US Open concluded yesterday as the tennis year went out in a whimper as Jannik Sinner won his first Open title, amid controversy surrounding two recent failed drug tests. And Aryna Sabalenka overcomes a loss to Coco Gauff in the final last year to beat Jessica Pegula for her initial Open win.

(1:04:21) I’ll wrap up with some NBA news as Nuggets guard, Jamal Murray gets a max contract.

(1:05:34) And two retirements in the NHL by the Staal brothers (i.e. Eric & Marc) as they combined for 35 years in the league and move on to the next phase of their respective lives.

Riding through the sports country with plenty of destinations to visit as I conclude a crazy week with whatever’s happening throughout the landscape. On deck:

(5:54) It seems as if the MLB playoff landscape is coming down to two races, both involving the New York teams. The Yankees have been neck and neck with the Baltimore Orioles for the AL East all summer long. With their recent struggles, can they capture the division flag? As for the Mets, they’re riding a seven game winning streak, just a half game behind the final wild card spot in the NL. Can they keep pace with the Atlanta Braves, with whom they’re battling for the #6 seed? I’ll get into how the Royals have sputtered but are in good shape of securing a wild card spot. Fernando Tatis’s return to the Padres lineup as they’ll need his presence the rest of the way. We’re just three and a half weeks away from the conclusion of the regular season.

(24:26) Florida St. put up an embarrassing performance on Monday night after losing in Dublin, Ireland to start 0-2. Do they still have a shot to secure a playoff spot after their rough start? It’s a weak college football schedule this weekend as the highlight is #3 Texas in #10 Michigan at high noon on Saturday.

(31:40) There’s been a pleasant surprise at the US Open this week. You have three US players (Taylor Fritz, Francis Tiafoe and Jessica Pegula) still alive searching for their first ever Grand Slam championship. I’ll address their runs to the semifinals. Do they have a shot to win the whole thing?

(38:50) If I asked you, who is the highest paid player in the NHL as of this moment, you’d probably say Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers. Well, you’d be half right. His teammate, Leon Draisaitl just inked an eight year deal worth $14M a year. What do you think the three time MVP and face of the league would get if this was his walk year?

The unofficial ending of summer brings a new beginning as the sports universe gets resurrected after a slow couple of months. Here to detail all that’s happening as I have a lot to get into. On deck:

(2:59) We can all rejoice as the sports universe will start to pick up after an expected, but rough six weeks or so. I’ll tend to some housekeeping before I kick off the podcast (i.e. latest vlog on my YouTube channel below, a mention of a sponsor in OLIPOP soda, please see above) with another sponsor about to be introduced to you guys and gals in the coming days.

(5:35) Baseball is down to its final four weeks of the regular season. Could there be a turn in the pennant chase, in both the division and wild card races? There are a couple of teams that have thrusted them into the discussion over the past few days, including my beloved NY Mets. I also bring up the fact that the Chicago White Sox are headed to regular season futility after getting swept over the weekend and now have lost seven in a row. I’ll see where we’re at with the latest throughout the sport as to who is where, how far behind and how close will these races will be as we get to the homestretch of the season.

(30:13) College football is here! Is this going to be a year of reckoning for the Georgia Bulldogs after their thrashing of Clemson? The Miami Hurricanes are trying to take a step towards their halcyon days after beating up the Florida Gators. Texas A&M hung in there vs. Notre Dame, but the Fightin’ Irish pulled away late to win at College Station. USC upset the LSU Tigers out in Sin City last night as the first week will be completed after Florida St. hosts Boston College tonight.

(39:41) I’ll unpack the over/under win total numbers in the NFL as I’ll tease on a couple that I’m interested in. I’ll reveal those on Thursday’s podcast. Now that Brandon Aiyuk signed on the dotted line in San Francisco, what about Dak Prescott, Micah Parsons and Haason Reddick? Speaking of the 49ers, thankfully rookie wideout Rickey Pearsall survived a huge scare as a robbery attempt was near fatal in broad daylight.

(49:50) A terrible tragedy transpired late Thursday night as Blue Jackets winger Johnny Gaudreau & his brother Matthew died in a car/bike accident is South Jersey prior to their sisters wedding the day after. Seth Jarvis of the Carolina Hurricanes hits the jackpot with a new eight year deal worth over $63 million dollars.

(54:17) What a whirlwind the US Open has been over the last four days? You’ve had three major stars OUSTED as Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff did not make it to Week 2. Is that a good thing for a sport that needs their stars to go deep into these tournaments?

(1:03:40) I’ll highlight a few NBA signings that took place this past week.

(1:04:16) Scottie Scheffler won the FedEx Cup yesterday. It’s not a Grand Slam major, but it is his sixth this year on the Tour. He is the number one player in golf. Could there be a faction that feel Xander Schauffele is part of the ‘best golfer in the world’ discussion, with TWO majors under his belt this year alone?

How College Football Playoff Fuels The Regular Season? Another Mets Disaster As Wild Card Is On The Ropes. Am I Looking Forward To NFL Season? Record Match At US Open

Just days away from September as we say bye bye to a slow stretch in the sports world with the final podcast of the month coming at ya. On deck:

(5:18) We can say goodbye to the Sports Dead Zone, Pt. 2 as we get set for what will be an intriguing college football season. Between teams moving from old conferences to new, schedules that have been enhanced and a twelve team playoff format that’s ushered in for the first time in the sport’s history. I’ll unpack a couple of big picture storylines on how the chase for the postseason is fueling a regular season that we’ll experience for the first time. I’ll predict who’ll win it all and do any of the teams (5-12 to qualify for the playoffs) have a shot to go all the way?

(32:20) It was another gut punch by the Mets to their core fans (yours truly included) after losing another eighth inning lead on this road trip, putting them in a spot where they may not make the postseason at all. Is that going to be the case? The Kansas City Royals had a golden opportunity to take over first place in the AL Central, but squandered a late lead as the Guardians salvaged a series and took back first place in the process. Are the Royals for real? I’ll update the latest with the division and wild card races, with both the Cubs and Tigers trying to get into the playoff discussion.

(49:58) The NFL is now one week away. Next Thursday the new season begins. No previews or over/unders just yet, but am I looking forward to the upcoming year? You may be surprised by the answer, but I’ll surely explain. Plus, CeeDee Lamb gets his money in Dallas. No notable cuts on the league’s cut day Tuesday. Former Rams LB Ernest Jones finds a new home and Russell Wilson will start at quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

(57:12) The US Open is in full swing. Not much to report as far as major upsets, but history was made as the longest match in Open history took place between Daniel Evans vs. Karen Khachanov. With Evans winning, will he embark on a magic carpet ride into the weekend?

Summer is officially days away, but the latest podcast is right now as I’ve got plenty to ramble about when it comes to what’s going on in sports. On deck:

(2:50) I would’ve been remiss if I didn’t start the podcast by not acknowledging the woman who gave birth to me as it’s her birthday today. So I had to kick off the podcast sending her a birthday wish!

(3:39) There was a thrilling end to the third Grand Slam of golf this year as we have to ask ourselves, did Bryson Dechambeau win the US Open? Or did Rory McIlroy lose it? I’ll breakdown those final few holes that went awry for McIlroy and the epic shot by Dechambeau which won him his second Open in five years.

(22:10) Sweeps were averted in the NBA and Stanley Cup Finals, but there are some scary similarities between the Dallas Mavericks and Edmonton Oilers, who avoided getting swept with resounding Game 4 wins. Does that bode well for both teams going into buildings ready to celebrate championships? I’ll also talk about Charles Barkley retiring from TNT after next year. And what will the new Utah hockey team be called starting this fall?

(43:29) Baseball had some interesting storylines over the past few days. The Orioles took two of three against the Phillies. Some key injuries to contenders (O’s pitcher Kyle Bradish, Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto & INF Mookie Betts) Seattle’s sweep over Texas. An umpire under investigation for gambling and some big series this week, headlined by Orioles-Yankees and Mariners-Guardians.

(58:40) Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence is the latest quarterback to get paid matching Joe Burrow’s contract of $275 million dollars. Is he worth it? Is this a case of what the market price for a QB in 2024?

I complete the trifecta of podcasts this week as I delve into all of the latest that’s happening in sports. On deck:

(6:26) The Boston Celtics are one win away from winning their first championship since 2008 as they’ve taken a 3-0 Finals lead with a win in Dallas last night. Will they end up with a sweep? Or will the Dallas Mavericks show some pride and extend the series back to Boston for a Game 5 Monday night? I have to pay respect to one of the biggest figures in NBA history as Jerry West, The Logo, passed away yesterday at the age of 86. I’ll chronicle his basketball life as it’s one of the greatest that we’ve ever witnessed. Then you have UCONN coach Danny Hurley spurning the Lakers offer to be head coach. Did the Lakers front office come up small here? What could’ve been the reason why they weren’t able to procure his services? In what direction will they go now?

(31:02) It’s possible that the Stanley Cup Finals could follow the same blueprint of the NBA Finals as the home team is up 2-0, going on the road to see if they can take a commanding series lead. That’s what’s in front of the Florida Panthers as they head up to Edmonton. Could the Oilers get a critical Game 3 to get themselves back into this Cup Final?

(36:36) As a huge baseball fan, I think I’ve found out that the Kansas City Royals are pretenders as they’ve been beaten up by the Yankees over the past three days. Can they save face and salvage the series today? What’s going on in Atlanta as the Braves have hit the skids recently? I’ll peek at the schedule this weekend, where you have an ENORMOUS series in Baltimore when the NL leading Phillies come to town.

(48:10) The third golf major of the year is underway as the US Open will be in our consciousness over the next four days. (30:04) A playoff atmosphere was in the Bronx over the weekend as the Dodgers visited the Yankees in a possible World Series preview. Why I thought and made this three game set a big deal? I’ll touch on the London Series between the Mets-Phillies. I’ll peek at the upcoming schedule this week as the Yankees visit Kansas City for four games starting tonight. The struggling Braves will go to Baltimore, while the Phillies visit Boston as there are plenty of interleague games this week. I’ll chime in with my over/under win totals to date which look very average at this point.

(46:33) Carlos Alcaraz is your French Open winner, coming from behind in both the semifinal and final to win his third major tournament. On the women’s side, Iga Swiatek won her third straight and fourth in five years at Roland Garros to show why she’s the number one women’s player in the world. How will she fare at Wimbledon next month?

(51:37) The Belmont Stakes had Dornoch win the final leg of horse racing’s third major race of the last six weeks.

(53:12) Scottie Scheffler won at The Memorial yesterday, (his fifth win on the Tour this year) with the US Open set to tee off on Thursday. Is he primed to win another major?

Remembering 9/11. Cowboys/49ers Dominant. Lions/Dolphins Heroic. Bengals/Steelers/Giants Awful Cap NFL Week 1. Is Alabama Done? Mike Trout On Trade Block? Coco, Novak Open Champs. Shocking MMA Upset

On a day that this country will never forget, I'll do my best to get us through a busy past few days in the sports world as I share with you the latest podcast. On deck:

(2:50) I'll reflect on a day that us as a nation we'll sadly always remember. My experience of the attack on lower Manhattan as I was just a few blocks from both planes that struck the World Trade Center and how that day impacted me and the rest of us as I revisit that horrific incident 22 years ago today.

(9:36) As I transition to the toy department of life, Week 1 of the NFL arrived with plenty to unpack, especially when it comes to my winners (i.e. Detroit, Miami and Green Bay) and losers (i.e. Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and NY Giants) I'll get into the Cowboys dismantling of the Giants in their building. Same for the Niners putting it on the Steelers. What about QB Brock Purdy? He continues his winning ways, but I have a thought on something that we haven't seen yet from Mr. Irrelevant when thrust in a big pressure spot that hasn't been discussed. I'll recap all of that transpired yesterday and Thursday night, with a look ahead to tonight's Monday night matchup between the Bills-Jets.

(36:11) Are the Alabama Crimson Tide already out of the college football playoff discussion? A surprising loss at home against the Texas Longhorns has them behind the eight-ball just two weeks into this season on whether or not they'll end up as one of the final four to play for a national championship. Also, the big story in the sport is what's happening in Boulder, CO as the Buffaloes have gotten off to a 2-0 start behind coach Deion Sanders. They have a trap game against their in-state rival Colorado St. this week, with games against Oregon and USC after that. Is a possible letdown in order?

(43:25) We're down to the final three weeks in the baseball season. A developing story coming out of Anaheim has the front office approaching Mike Trout to discuss a possible trade for the future Hall of Famer. Where will he go? How much will the Angels pay the whopping $245 million that's owed to him? And what will they get in return? Don't look now, but the Houston Astros are in first place in the AL West. Why it's important for them to win the division this year? I'll cover the rest of the baseball landscape, especially the AL East race, as well as, the NL Wild Card race as we down to the final 20-ish games of the year.

(56:10) Coco Gauff finally wins her first ever Grand Slam title as she's the US Open Champ on the women's side. While it's the same old song on the men's side as Novak Djokovic secures his 24th Slam championship, defeating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets, stamping his approval of who the GOAT is in tennis all time.

(1:00:44) A shocking upset in MMA happened Saturday night as middleweight Israel Adesanya was unable to beat fill-in and handpicked opponent Sean Strickland, losing by decision. Is a rematch forthcoming where Adesanya can exact some revenge?

Loaded AFC, Weak NFC, Pressure On Rodgers/Jets Headline 2023 NFL Preview. Clemson Stinker, Stanford/Cal To ACC, Texas-Bama. Urias Torpedoes LA's Series Hopes, Scherzer Gags. US Open Semis On Deck

Are you ready for some football? It's time to usher in a new campaign as I'll dissect that and everything else that's happening in sports as the most recent podcast is at your disposal. On deck:

(2:57) Rejoice NFL fans, the season is here! It's time to breakdown every aspect of this upcoming year. The storylines of how poor the NFC is, while the AFC is loaded. The pressure and spotlight squarely on Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets. I'll cover all of the divisions, have over/under win totals, my knockout pool pick, squeeze in a preview of my beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and predict who'll face off in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas next February.

(43:49) Clemson put up an absolute stinker vs. Duke on Monday night. In the process, they may have torpedoed any chance of making the college football playoff. I'll discuss the preposterous move for Stanford, Cal & SMU to the ACC starting next year and peek at the Week 2 schedule as Texas-Alabama is the big matchup to watch.

(47:55) Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias has put his teams chances to go back to a World Series in jeopardy as he was arrested for his second domestic violence charge last Sunday. Is this the last that we've seen of him? The Rangers have been in a freefall over the last month. It culminated last night at the hands of their in-state rival Astros, as we they were swept at home and Max Scherzer did not deliver in a game that absolutely had to have. Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton reached a home run milestone (No. 400) earlier this week. He has a shot for 500 career homers. Is he Hall of Fame worthy? I'll bring you up to date on the latest wild card and division races as we inch closer to the conclusion of the MLB season.

(57:29) We're down to the semifinals at the US Open. I'll discuss the final four matches on both the men's and women's side. Will there be another Novak Djokovic-Carlos Alcaraz final? Is this Coco Gauff's tournament to lose?
