Sports 'Dead Zone' Pt. 2, Mets Unraveling in Wrigley, Yanks Soaring with London On Deck, Celtics Re-tooling?

Episode 77 welcomes in summer, closes out June and prepares us for another sports talk podcast party for the masses. On tap:

The second sports 'Dead Zone' of the year has arrived. I'll explain.

An eventful week that was for the Mets included, the firing of their pitching coach and bullpen coach. Pete Alonso’s record breaking rookie season, not securing a road series win since the beginning of April at Wrigley Field, leading up to some salty post game comments by manager, Mickey Callaway, at a Newsday reporter AND pitcher Jason Vargas intervening. Is Mickey Callaway on his way out? My biggest fear for Pete Alonso in 2019?  I have LOTS to say about this, as you might expect!

The Yankees weren't able to pay back the Astros with a sweep at home, but come off of an eight game winning streak as their big guns (i.e. Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge) are back in the starting lineup. They have a trip across the pond at the end of the week in London vs. the Red Sox. You'll get my take on why I don't like these games being played overseas?

I'll recap the NBA Draft, get into some NBA free agency stuff as we're exactly a week away. Plus, my thoughts on the Celtics this offseason. Are they looking to re-tool? Re-load?

I'll touch on the Devils and Rangers going 1-2 in the draft and what that means for the rivalry and organizations moving forward. Also, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

NBA Offseason Frenzy Has Begun (AD to Lakers, NY/BK's Pursuit of KD, Draft, Rumors) Blues Win Cup, Yanks Questionable Trade? Mets Bullpen Implosion, Brooks Falls Short at US Open

The NBA Finals just ended, but the offseason is already proving that it's going to be wild and crazy as Episode 76 will provide the following:

The Anthony Davis trade to the Lakers. Who is the winner and loser of this deal?

Should the Knicks or Nets pursue Kevin Durant? What will the Knicks do on draft night?  Plus, the aftermath of Klay Thompson's injury and the future of the Warriors.

I'll recap the Blues historic Stanley Cup run. Does home ice/court/field matter in sports? The NHL Draft is Friday. Why the Devils and Rangers will be forever linked with who they select come Friday night?

The Yankees trade for another right-handed slugger. Why I disagree with the move? And why wasn't a starting pitcher involved instead?

The Mets bullpen continues to be inflammable. The latest debacle of relief futility, plus, their upcoming season defining road trip to Atlanta, Chicago (Cubs) and Philadelphia.

A recap of Gary Woodland's US Open victory over Brooks Koepka.

My Hero and Zero of the Week.

'REELZ Rant on Mets Futility. Yankees, NBA Off-Season, Isles' John Tavares Impending Free Agency

Kicking off another week in grand style as I deliver the latest of what's going on in the world of sports. Met fans! Hang on to your hats yet again! Just when you think it can't get any worse. Losers of six in a row, 13 of 14 at HOME and unable to replace starting pitcher Jason Vargas at the last minute, the New York Mets continue to find ways to go further south as a team AND an organization! This 'REELZ Rant is solely on the shoulders of GM, Sandy Alderson and Principal Owner, Jeff Wilpon. I discuss poor transactions, accountability of the franchise and predict how Sandy Alderson, if and when, will leave/be dismissed by the team. I'll also touch on the Yankees without Gary Sanchez in the lineup for the forseeable future. Plus, an early look at the NBA off-season, including the UNCALLED for booing of NY Knicks #1 pick, Kevin Knox. Also, where will NY Islanders cornerstone, John Tavares go as the NHL free agent process begins in less than a week. All of that, plus a little more, on this edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. (Episode 17)

Sports Smorgasbord: NBA Draft, Mets/Yankees, World Cup, US Open Recap

Back on the scene to deliver all that's going on in the world of sports on this weeks' episode of The JAYREELZ Podcast. The NBA season may be over, but the off-season is just getting started. The Draft is three days away, with free agency ten days after that. I'll share my thoughts on what the Knicks & Nets may do, where LeBron James may end up, as well as, Kawhi Leonard looking to be traded to a new team. (LA, anyone?) There's not much to report in the Bronx as the Yankees continue to roll, but there's concern with the Bombers (mainly the Red Sox and adding another starting pitcher). You'll get my take on that, and which Mets may not be with the team (although it's still early, but who's kidding who) come the trade deadline next month. Plus, a recap of the US Open, played right here in Long Island at Shinnecock Hills. And why I have NO interest in the World Cup? Get your popcorn ready for another fast paced, action packed, sports talk party here on the latest edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. (Episode 16)
