We’re on the verge of saying goodbye to an action packed sports month, but there’s still plenty to get into on this weeks edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. Both the NBA & NHL have moved on to the Conference Semi-finals. We’ll start off with the NBA as the juicy second round match-ups (in particular, Houston-Golden State) is off to a wild start. I’ll get into the officiating in Game 1, what this could mean for the rest of series and who’ll come out on top and advance to the Conference Finals. I’ll get into the Celtics dominating GM 1 in Milwaukee, the Raptors win over the 76ers and the Nuggets prevailing over the Spurs as they prepare to face the Trail Blazers in Round 2. On the ice, the Islanders have dug themselves an 0-2 hole and now have to go on the road to play the Hurricanes and get back in this series. I’ll explain why this series is far from over, despite having the odds against them, as well as, surveying the rest of the Stanley Cup Playoff landscape with the other three series taking place.. The 2019 NFL Draft is officially in the books. I’ll discuss the Giants surprise first of three first round picks, all of the comings and goings of another wild weekend in Nashville and the latest surrounding Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill. The Yankees continue their hot streak out West as they’ve won six of seven in Anaheim and San Francisco. Should the Yankee fan expect this team to play stellar ball without their key guys in the lineup? I’ll have the answer to that, plus, what’s going on with Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard as the Mets pitching staff has underperformed here in the first month of the season. The best sports month of the year never disappoints as I’ll zip through the sports landscape in fast and furious fashion on this edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. The Brooklyn Nets have hung tough but have fallen short against the heavily favored Philadelphia 76ers. I’ll revisit their last three games, do they have a shot at bringing this series back to Brooklyn? And I must get into the antics of a one, Joel Embiid, whose postgame comments and in game behavior is starting to wear on me. This is one segment you won’t want to miss out on as I believe this will catch up to him in the long run. I’ll take a look back on how the Celtics had a rough go of it for a four game sweep vs. the Indiana Pacers and breeze through the rest of the NBA playoff brackets as there’s very little drama surrounding the first round of the tournament. The Islanders have secured their first four game sweep of a playoff series since they’ve won the Stanley Cup back in 1983. Up next, is either Washington or Carolina as they Capitals are currently up 3-2 in their series. Will the long layoff help or hurt the Islanders in the second round? I’ll have that, plus a more drama filled postseason on the ice than the hardwood as we have two, and a potential three, Game 7’s on the horizon. The NFL Draft is days away. Both the Jets and Giants have prominent roles as they respectively have the 3rd and 6th picks overall. What will they do? What should they do? I’ll deliver my take on who they should draft as we inch closer to the first round on Thursday. I’ll also share a bit on the upcoming NFL schedules of the locals, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Cleveland Browns and their FOUR primetime games and much more. The Yankees have suffered another key injury, this time to their best player, Aaron Judge, but the beat goes on as they win five of their last six at home as they embark on a West Coast trip. Will they continue to tread water? Fall deeper in the AL East standings? As for the Mets, they limp home losing four of five and six of ten on their ten game road trip. What are biggest problem for the Amazins’ early season failures? You’ll be surprised at who are some of the culprits as to the Mets stumbling over the past week. Are there reinforcements coming? April continues to sizzle as there is much to cover in the sports world on this edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. The unthinkable has happened! I’ll detail Tiger’s historic Sunday, what this means moving forward and is there another major title on the horizon in 2019? The New York Islanders are one win away from sweeping the Pittsburgh Penguins out of the playoffs. I’ll recap how effective and dominant they’ve been against their division rivals and can they break out the brooms? Or will it go back to the Island for a Game 5? Speaking of sweeps, who would’ve thought the Tampa Bay Lightning would be one game away from being sent home after their 62 win/128 point regular season? I’ll discuss that and the rest of what’s going on in the NHL as we get deeper into round one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. How about the Brooklyn Nets? They went into Philadelphia and stole Game 1, with Game 2 looming this evening. Do they have a shot to win this series? Or was that just a fluke? Is it time to panic in the Bronx if you’re the Yankees? They’re sure underachieving, but the injuries continue to mount, especially with their top players. I’ll review the week that was and what lies ahead for the Bombers as the defending champion Red Sox come to town this week. Also, the Mets started off with a bang in Atlanta only to cool off by losing the back two games of their four game series to the Braves. Now it’s onto Philadelphia as they’ll face Bryce Harper & company for the first time this year. I’ll check in on the good (Pete Alonso), the bad (Jacob deGrom’s last two starts) and the ugly (the bullpen, minus Edwin Diaz)  on the Amazins’ as their ten game road trip continues. I’ll get into both races in the East and West as the bottom of the playoff seedings in each conference have yet to be determined. On the other hand, the NHL playoffs are set. The Islanders will host the first round since 1984 against the battle tested Penguins. What are their chances to move onto the next round? Who is the biggest X-factor of this series? It’s officially spring! The Madness is in full effect! A baseball season is about to begin! And we’re into the homestretch of the NBA & NHL regular season. The NFL year commences on Wednesday with plenty of moves on the docket. I’ll get into some of the major player movements that have taken place and what could be on the horizon throughout the league. The Yankees have a major issue to deal with at the top of their pitching rotation as Luis Severino will be out indefinitely with rotator cuff inflammation. What does this mean for the Bombers moving forward? Is there a trade forthcoming? You’ll get my take on what may happen next for the Yanks as we’re two and a half weeks away from Opening Day. The Knicks continue their quest for finishing with the worst record in the NBA. But they’re making news off the court thanks to their owner, James Dolan. Has the year off reinvigorated the former All-Pro tight end? I’ll share my thoughts on what his return to the ‘Boys means and if the bad press of becoming a commentator was one of the reasons for ‘un-retiring’. I’ll also have more on the Antonio Brown fallout in Pittsburgh in regards to recent comments on ESPN. Is he not to blame for what went on in the final weeks of the season? I’m closing out the month of February in strong fashion as I deliver all that’s happening in the world of sports on this edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. Manny Machado has finally found a home in San Diego. With all players reporting for spring training, there is still one big fish out there not signed to a major league contract. Will Bryce Harper come to agreement with the Phillies who are hot on his trail? Or possibly the Dodgers, as they’ve stepped into the mix to procure the former MVP? You’ll get my up to the minute analysis on where this road may lead to and why I believe Philadelphia shouldn’t be a destination for the former National. All of the talk last week in college basketball was the injury to Duke’s ballyhooed freshman, Zion Williamson. It sparked a national debate on whether he should sit out for the rest of the season and enter the NBA Draft, how college players should be paid, etc. But I’ll give you the real reason why this is a story at all and I’ll point the finger as to who is the culprit in all of this mess. Then you have the developments of Friday’s charge to New England Patriots owner, Robert Kraft of soliciting a prostitute in a massage parlor in Florida. There’s still more to come with this story, but I’ll share firsthand why we shouldn’t jump the gun on prosecuting Mr. Kraft, but also should’ve known that this firestorm was going to come whether or not he’s guilty. You’ve heard my thoughts on past podcasts about this, but there’s another layer to this never ending saga. Hear what I have to say about how the front office should handle this and how this move can actually make the team come together and be better as a whole.
