We’re about to hit a slow period in the world of sports (A Dead Zone, Part 1?), but you know I’ll always bring life into what’s happening as the latest podcast is here. On deck:

(5:53) Now that the Super Bowl is behind us, what can we look forward to over the next month or so as the sports world takes a bit of a ‘pause’?

(12:05) Four days after the Seahawks win on Sunday, I’ll have some leftovers from the big game, take a look at where next year’s destination for the 61st version will be and what day it falls on? Plus, some news and shots taken at former Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger by a former teammate?

(26:25) The NBA is about to head into the All-Star Break after tonight. I’ll talk about the recent rash of skirmishes in the league, harkening back to the 1990’s. Is there blatant tanking going on in Washington and Utah? I’ll take a lay of the land as the Association takes a respite for a week.

(43:00) College basketball gets back into our consciousness as I’ll discuss Arizona losing for the first time against Kansas, among other things.

(50:03) I’ll review the first two-thirds of the NHL season as we’re less than two weeks away from resuming due to the Olympic break.

(56:58) Speaking of which, I cannot get into the Winter Olympics for the life of me. I’ll explain why.

(1:02:17) A recent rash of hamate bone injuries have struck across MLB, including Mets SS Francisco Lindor. How long will he be out and what will that do for psyche of the team?

And MUCH MORE in between.

In Yanks We Trust Come October? Thumbs Down On Mets, Baez & Lindor. NFL Over/Unders, College Football Preview. New Lakers: The Expendables! Novak's 'Slam' Chase. Taking Jake Paul Seriously?

August is about to depart and September is around the corner, but in the moment is my take on all that's going on in sports as Episode #211 has arrived. On deck:

(5:55) The polar opposites of the New York baseball teams as they've made news in the sport this past week. First up, the Yankees just completed a 13 game winning streak, putting themselves in prime position to make the postseason. It does pose the question, do you trust this core (i.e. Judge, Stanton, Sanchez, Torres, etc.) to deliver a championship? (17:33) Another rant about the god forsaken team that I root for in the Mets. How analytics ruined a big start by Taijuan Walker, the Javier Baez 'Thumbs Down' fiasco to the fans and there MUST be a complete house cleaning in store from the top on down as this team needs to do some major self-analysis this offseason. Plus, I'll take a look at the MLB playoff landscape as we head into the final month of the season.

(43:00) The NFL season is a week plus upon us. I'll review the over/under win totals for the year. Perhaps I'll give you a peek as to who I may choose come next week. I'll even get into my potential knockout pool pick to start off Week 1. I'll highlight what's going on throughout the league with some news and notes.

(54:04) The college football season is underway. I'll get into the first matchup of note this past weekend, what lies ahead this weekend as the highlight game will take place between #5 Georgia vs. #3 Clemson. I'll preview if there'll be a change at the top of the college football rankings at all throughout the course of the year, the alliance between the PAC-12, ACC & Big Ten and who'll be Heisman hopefuls come December?

(1:02:14) The Association was quiet, but there were a few transactions that took place. The Knicks offered Julius Randle a fair extension for some team flexibility. The new look Lakers add another familiar piece in Rajon Rondo as I'm going to dub them 'The Expendables' after the action movie and its mega cast of action heroes of the past. Is Kevin Garnett's Celtic number worthy of being risen up to the rafters at the TD Garden in Boston?

(1:09:17) Some signings in the NHL, a change in representation for Sabres' Jack Eichel as I've discussed in a recent podcast and a sad, untimely passing of former player, Jimmy Hayes.

(1:13:55) The final major tennis tournament of the year (US Open) with the only storyline being Novak Djokovic's chase for immortality in completing the calendar Grand Slam. Will he do it? Will the pressure mount as he gets closer to winning? What about the women's side as Naomi Osaka returns for her first Slam appearance since the Australian Open.

(1:20:08) Jake Paul is continuing to make his way and name in the world of boxing as he wins a split decision against former MMA fighter, Tyron Woodley. Is this a guy that we're going to have to take seriously?

(1:23:05) A thrilling six hole playoff goes under the radar, because it wasn't a major golf tournament, had Patrick Cantlay winning over Bryson Dechambeau as golf starts to gear up for the Ryder Cup coming soon.

(1:25:01) And closing out with my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Colts Conundrum, Ravens Revenge, Steelers Stinker & The Rest Of NFL Wild Card Weekend, 'Bama-Buckeye Preview, NBA Confronts COVID, Mets/Lindor: Series Bound? NHL Raises Curtain

Settling into the New Year while I dissect the sports universe as Episode 173 is ready for takeoff! On deck:

(3:23) Not the wildest of Wild Card weekends that the NFL was hoping for, but tons to delve into on the Colts unable to capitalize in Buffalo, the Rams ‘D’ thwart Russell Wilson and the Seahawks, Washington QB Taylor Heinecke upstages the Buccaneers victory. The Ravens get some payback, the Saints were slow, yet methodical in the second half vs. the Bears (also Nickolodeon, NFL? Really?) And the debacle in Pittsburgh as they dug themselves a big hole that they couldn’t get out of vs. the Browns. I’ll also take the temperature of the Steeler organization after another putrid home playoff performance. A State of the Union, if you will on their free agents, Big Ben close to the end? Coach Mike Tomlin’s postseason record and more, that any Steeler fan wouldn’t want to miss. Plus, my Divisional Round preview with predictions, coaching news and Deshaun Watson’s frustration in Houston.

(59:49) A preview of tonight’s National Title Game between Ohio State vs. Alabama. What will it take for the Buckeyes to upset the Crimson Tide? Also, an apology to Heisman Trophy winner, DeVonta Smith.

(1:02:51) The NBA confronting with coronavirus running through the league. Is there a possible pause to the season forthcoming? The Clippers latest collapse and LaMelo Ball’s record setting achievement.

(1:08:24) Breaking down the NCAA’s decision to keep the entire March Madness tournament in the state of Indiana.

(1:10:25) An NHL season begins on Wednesday with news on the realigned divisions being sponsored. A retirement from a Stanley Cup winning goaltender and a thought of who I feel will be in the Stanley Cup Final?

(1:17:15) The Mets trade for star infielder, Francisco Lindor. Does that make the Mets Series contenders? Is he the final piece to the puzzle? Kyle Schwarber finds a home and what happened in LA with the Angels and their former clubhouse attendant, providing doctored baseballs to opposing pitchers?

(1:24:07) Lastly, my Hero and Zero of the Week.
