April continues to sizzle as there is much to cover in the sports world on this edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. The unthinkable has happened! Eldrick ‘Tiger’ Woods has made it back to golf’s mountaintop with a cool, calm and collected final round to win his fifth green jacket at The Masters and his 15th major tournament overall. I’ll detail Tiger’s historic Sunday, what this means moving forward and is there another major title on the horizon in 2019? The New York Islanders are one win away from sweeping the Pittsburgh Penguins out of the playoffs. I’ll recap how effective and dominant they’ve been against their division rivals and can they break out the brooms? Or will it go back to the Island for a Game 5? Speaking of sweeps, who would’ve thought the Tampa Bay Lightning would be one game away from being sent home after their 62 win/128 point regular season? I’ll discuss that and the rest of what’s going on in the NHL as we get deeper into round one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. How about the Brooklyn Nets? They went into Philadelphia and stole Game 1, with Game 2 looming this evening. Do they have a shot to win this series? Or was that just a fluke? You’ll get my take on their chances, the Orlando Magic making a statement in Game 1 vs. Toronto,  the Celtics ugly but effective win and the rest of the opening playoff weekend in the NBA. Is it time to panic in the Bronx if you’re the Yankees? They’re sure underachieving, but the injuries continue to mount, especially with their top players. I’ll review the week that was and what lies ahead for the Bombers as the defending champion Red Sox come to town this week. Also, the Mets started off with a bang in Atlanta only to cool off by losing the back two games of their four game series to the Braves. Now it’s onto Philadelphia as they’ll face Bryce Harper & company for the first time this year. I’ll check in on the good (Pete Alonso), the bad (Jacob deGrom’s last two starts) and the ugly (the bullpen, minus Edwin Diaz)  on the Amazins’ as their ten game road trip continues. I have a full smorgasbord of sports to whet your appetite on this weeks edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. We’re now down to two. The Final Four was overcome with controversy as the Auburn Tigers was thisclose to making their first trip to the Championship Game. Was it a foul? Should have it been called? I’ll be sure to delve into those final 0.6 seconds vs. Virginia which changed the trajectory of the Final Four, Texas Tech’s mild upset over Michigan State and a preview of what lies ahead for tonights’ winner take all matchup. The NBA is about to embark on another postseason, but there are still a couple of games to be played. The Brooklyn Nets have punched their ticket to the playoffs, but their seed isn’t set in stone. I’ll get into both races in the East and West as the bottom of the playoff seedings in each conference have yet to be determined. On the other hand, the NHL playoffs are set. The Islanders will host the first round since 1984 against the battle tested Penguins. What are their chances to move onto the next round? Who is the biggest X-factor of this series? It may not be who you think, so you’ll have to listen to find out. It’s officially spring! The Madness is in full effect! A baseball season is about to begin! And we’re into the homestretch of the NBA & NHL regular season. I’ll recap what took place over the weekend, including a miraculous outcome for the Duke Blue Devils, and review what lies ahead as we set our sights on the Final Four. The Ides of March are here and the sports world is starting to shape up as I have a lot to get into on this weeks edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. The Antonio Brown saga in Pittsburgh is finally over, but the aftermath is just beginning. AB strong armed his way off the team, got a new deal and is heading west to Oakland in the process. Who are the winners and losers in this complicated transaction? You’re going to get an earful of sound bites from yours truly as I have a ton to say about all of what took place over the weekend AND what lies ahead for the disgruntled former All-Pro, the Steelers and the Raiders as well. The NFL year commences on Wednesday with plenty of moves on the docket. I’ll get into some of the major player movements that have taken place and what could be on the horizon throughout the league. The Yankees have a major issue to deal with at the top of their pitching rotation as Luis Severino will be out indefinitely with rotator cuff inflammation. What does this mean for the Bombers moving forward? Is there a trade forthcoming? You’ll get my take on what may happen next for the Yanks as we’re two and a half weeks away from Opening Day. The Knicks continue their quest for finishing with the worst record in the NBA. But they’re making news off the court thanks to their owner, James Dolan. We move full steam ahead into the month of March with all that’s going on in the world of sports on the latest edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. The Philadelphia Phillies have won the Bryce Harper sweepstakes with a record setting 13 year, $330 million dollar contract, but is this REALLY the place he wanted to play? I’ll get into every nook and cranny about what his signing means for the Phillies, the NL East and his legacy that you won’t want to miss. I’ll also talk about some other key free agents that are out there for the taking as we’re one week into spring training throughout the MLB. Jason Witten has made news by coming back to play for the only organization that he’s known in the Dallas Cowboys, leaving his Monday Night Football gig at ESPN. Has the year off reinvigorated the former All-Pro tight end? I’ll share my thoughts on what his return to the ‘Boys means and if the bad press of becoming a commentator was one of the reasons for ‘un-retiring’. I’ll also have more on the Antonio Brown fallout in Pittsburgh in regards to recent comments on ESPN. Is he not to blame for what went on in the final weeks of the season? What teams are rumored to be in the running for the soon to be former Steelers WR. Lots to discuss regarding those questions and others around the NFL. I’m closing out the month of February in strong fashion as I deliver all that’s happening in the world of sports on this edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. Manny Machado has finally found a home in San Diego. With all players reporting for spring training, there is still one big fish out there not signed to a major league contract. Will Bryce Harper come to agreement with the Phillies who are hot on his trail? Or possibly the Dodgers, as they’ve stepped into the mix to procure the former MVP? You’ll get my up to the minute analysis on where this road may lead to and why I believe Philadelphia shouldn’t be a destination for the former National. All of the talk last week in college basketball was the injury to Duke’s ballyhooed freshman, Zion Williamson. It sparked a national debate on whether he should sit out for the rest of the season and enter the NBA Draft, how college players should be paid, etc. But I’ll give you the real reason why this is a story at all and I’ll point the finger as to who is the culprit in all of this mess. Then you have the developments of Friday’s charge to New England Patriots owner, Robert Kraft of soliciting a prostitute in a massage parlor in Florida. There’s still more to come with this story, but I’ll share firsthand why we shouldn’t jump the gun on prosecuting Mr. Kraft, but also should’ve known that this firestorm was going to come whether or not he’s guilty. A champion has been crowned in the NFL, NBA players are ruling the roost and are we close to a decision on where Bryce Harper and Manny Machado are headed? Those are some of the topics I’ll discuss on this weeks edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. The NFL season went out on a whimper as the Patriots defeat the Rams in the lowest scoring game in Super Bowl history. I’ll recap the good (not much), the bad (quite a bit) and the ugly (i.e. Sean McVay and Jared Goff) as this was a game to forget. A lot of talk has been made about Super Bowl MVP, Julian Edelman on whether he’s bound for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I touched on this two weeks ago (Episode 49) and I’ll revisit this again as to why he is NOT going to Canton. I’ll wrap up my Super Bowl thoughts on the commercials, the halftime performance and the who IS going to Canton for the Class of 2019. The NBA had a fascinating week of the court with all of the buzz generated by Anthony Davis (trade request), Kristaps Porzingis (trade request granted) and Kyrie Irving (trade in the works?) as we’re just a few days from the trade deadline. Players are more in control of their fate than ever! I have tons to say about this, so you’ll get an unfiltered view on why this is bad for the league? Lastly, have we gotten any closer as to where the top two superstars on the free agent market (Bryce Harper & Manny Machado) will end up? There have been talks out in San Diego as the Padres throw their hat in the ring, but at least for one player, he may have come to a decision as to where he’ll go.
